Someone promises you love and it never came, the skies promises rain to a drought thirsty earth...but it never came.
A broken promise pains more than to discover it to be a right through lie...
A long procession of gray clouds
over a thirsty desert of dried sands,
like silent and somber monks
from a monastery build in the past,
where only ghost would roam free
in dungeons with screams in the dark.
A long procession of gray clouds
announcing the storm just behind
giving hope to a dried up river
whose waters were taken by the sun,
and to a few seed buried there
waiting to come, once more, alive!
A long procession of gray clouds
trailing the thunder’s voice sound,
telling the roots of the forest trees
here’s coming, the blessed rain
with the coolest of all its drops,
get all the leaves looking at the sky.
A long procession of gray clouds
with thousand lightning’s flash
broken darkness to make a day
from a dreary menacing night,
the anticipation for it is here
lift your face its rain, rain, rain…
Then, the long procession is gone,
wind took all the thunder sounds,
and lightning, and all drops of rain
when it herded away the gray clouds;
anticipation turns in disappointment,
leaving a thirsty desert with dry sands.
Don't you just hate this? Anticipation, rain so deperately needed. Then the wind takes it to someplace that is already drenched. A strong metaphor of love.
Oh, those broken promises, how they scar the soul...This is a very amazingly poignant poem, I love all the imagery and flow...Wonderful, Georg, as usual..You are surely a very amazing man.

I live with the results of broken promises everyday of my life, all we can do is the best we can find a bit of nourshing rain where we can. Poignant write Dear Georg.
In broken promises we find further depths of our emotional selves with valued purpose indeed.
I enjoyed reading your piece & especially liked your pre-lude, which caught my eye. Also a note you left on another Authors Page about that seagul trapped in netting of sorts? Gave me goose bumps at the thought of its suffering by another human carlessness.
Which reminded me of this man whom called the police one night & said he thought someone was in his shed & police dispatch said the squads were all busy & they would send someone out as soon as they could, 10 minutes or so went by & he called back & said never mind he took care of it himself with his rifle. 4 squad cars came within 1 minute. They captured the people in his shed, and the one officer said "I thought you said you shot someone?" The shed owner said "No, thats not what I actully said to dispath Officer but, I thought dispatch said you were all to busy?" ;)
Many Blessing To You Vickie
...a broken promise...perhaps the dryness of the desert...without emotions of the rains water...cannot even appreciate the beauty of gray clouds...and so the thunder holds back its tears...
excellent Georg...

An outstanding write Georg
Some are cursed with drought
some are cursed with rain
Some get enough of both
Too much, to little, not enough.
Peace be with you Brother
Did you write this with the StormSpinner in mind? LOL The long procession of gray clouds did exactly what your poem details: built up, lightninged, thundered, not a drop of rain, but a cool front, greatly appreciated: the Red October, done (at least for now).
Knowing how weird this year has been, weatherwise, nothing surprises, any more! LOL An excellent write, enjoyed.
Broken promises cause a feeling of emptiness. Hopefully, it's a temporary feeling. Somber this one, but great imagery with its ghosts, nighttimes, deserts, howls, etc. Cheers

Excellent writing, enjoyed very much sweet man...Hugssssss
Wow! An excellent offering my friend, powerful with equally as powerful imagery! You've penned a poem that speaks multitudes to Kentuckians, for we have been teased with those clouds as well, only to be quickly replaced with the hot sun. Temperatures have been sweltering and the once flowing creeks and streams are now dry beds of stone and dust, rivers are dangerously low and many are standing stagnant, the drought has affected our wildlife, gardens, and every living thing! Good news is that we are expecting rain today, I pray for a slow steady rain to fall throughout the day and tonight, not another broken promise! Bravo dear friend on a poem well written indeed!
Blessings,
Joyce B.
All the anticipation, the build up of thunder, lightning, wind and then you wait and wait and wait and nothing as you hang your head once again knowing how close you came. Very descriptive imagery....

In "A Touch of Your Presence" are words that would inspire, encourage and strengthen one's soul when faced with challenges and difficulties and to know the awesomeness of God's power.
