The new proverb should be: "It doesn't concern me" as everything goes to hell in a basket without any help from any us, pushing it faster or stopping its falling...

Poem Artwork

Rolling down horizons, never stopping
to go on falling at the end of the world
where silence cuts like a sharpened knife
and wrapped in barbed-wire are the words.

Time has dried up all the rivers beds,
because there are no more farms or corn,
the attending hands are so far away, digging,
trying to survive, the last of their fox-hole.

Afraid for the last of the melting ices today,
but nobody was ten thousand years ago,
when praying for the sun to be forever kind
making more habitable their frozen world.

Man isn’t so special, just another little one
of the creatures from the Will of a Mighty God,
creatures that never took care of a given Paradise
and now are asking understanding from their Lord.

Yes, all of you are praying, but doing it…
with wrapped in barbed-wire so many words.

When people have messed her up bad enough, Mother earth will flick them off like a flea and continue to be. Without man and his greenhouse gas spitting, fossil fuel driven machines.

Excellant write my friend and one that says so much about the way man has not only crucified his God but continues to crucify the very Eden that God created.. love that phrase wrapped in barbed wire...

When I read your title - the thought that immediately came to mind is how our words can cause so much damage. Your poem offered greater insight than I could have imagined. The truths that you present are many, and food for thought for a lifetime.

God bless you. Kathy

I have often felt this way George but it doesn't stop us from hoping and praying as Christine says we are our own worst enemy. Thank you for sharing

I love the metaphor of "words wrapped in barbed-wire." A phrase that can be used in many different situations...

People say prayers, then often pull them back because I always believe God says, "Okay, the ball's back in your court. Make a move, and bless a life."

Nice reading this George, thanks for sharing,

Poemized with the emotion of social strata and poetized with the platinum stylus on the doors of eternity... leaving a basket of soul's aliment... "Words wrapped in barbed-wire" brings nourishment for the mind.

I salute You, Poet.

In admiration,

Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU
