The Traveleer continues his journey despite the little angel child warning that nothing is there, where the Traveler was head for, yet...

Poem Artwork

Entering the cavern to escape from the rain
the traveler that it wasn’t empty he found,
resting against the back wall, in the shadows,
he saw the wrinkled face of a very old man,
wearing myopic eyeglasses by the shadows,
meditating in silence, a ghost from the past,
“Sorry” the traveler said “running from rain
I didn’t think that this cave was occupied…”
but the traveler got no answer to his apology
just an angry rumble of a thunder from outside.

With a shrug of his shoulders he disengaged
the weigh of his possessions in the backpack,
taking in a philosophical stride the silence given
didn’t look back in the direction of the old man,
just concentrating on counting the falling drops,
little messengers sent down from the gray skies,
to flowers that couldn’t shed anymore any tears
because they were all had became so very dry,
counting drop after drop he thought, how many
you need to quench the thirst of a dead man?

“Not many” the traveler heard the old man voice,
as reading is thoughts he was talking to him like,
“Dead men don’t need no rain, so stop counting,
there are more drops than sorrows in your entire life”
Turning, the traveler accustomed now to shadows,
saw more clear the figure standing in front his eyes,
white long hair and beard, extremely older he was,
“you read my thoughts?” the traveler needed to ask,
“yes, drifter traveler” he answered, “reading other
people’s thoughts keeps me trying to read mine’s”

The rain had stopped and the few drops left were
mimicking a grandfather’s clock pendulum chime
as one by one, painfully slowly apart, were falling
to mark the end of yet another angry storm’s life.
“How can you explain knowing of my name?” the
traveler said, “we never had seen each other, a sign?”
“Oh, there my friend you are wrong, we have been
always two inseparable together, days and nights,
again and again you said my name, don’t remember?
how can you have forgotten that my name is Time?”

Dear Georg,
I always said what no one understands. Since our birth, we have inherited one great asset and friend: Time. Rare are those who understand, and no one knows how old our friend is. Many think that because we are alive today, time is forever. But sooner or later, everyone realizes what Time is. I thank you very much for letting me share your deep thoughts. Love, Emile

Time is all we have in this world to get through. Days come and go so fast, fast paced is life, too much so, but we are still struggling on as if it is the last day for the rest of our lives.

Cool punch-line, Georg! I can tell you had a good "time" with this one.

I wonder -- if Father Time swallowed a clock, would it continue ticking?
