Christmas is coming and with it another year to WWII, Korea, Nam, Iraq War's Veterans cast aside because they can't fend for themselves and had became a burden to the country they were mauled as they defended it from their enemies.
No one wants to recognize the existence of their cruel, exclusive world.
There are no shadows…
if your world has thousand suns,
and not a living creature holding lies
when transparency is the soul,
fingers caressing masquerade faces,
those wore by impure thoughts
in a celestial ridiculous carnival
where guilt is a supernova ghoul.
There are no shadows…
if your world has thousand suns,
nebulae galaxies of smiles devoured
by the insatiability of a black-hole,
where not even the light can escape
radiating from those thousand suns, no
Big Bang after becoming a singularity,
no redemption, no new life, no love.
There are no shadows…
if your world has thousand suns,
violence of feelings, indescribable hates,
unstoppable comets with the core of ice
in search of an unguarded world to crash,
laments inside that dark void all around,
echoing the screams of rage from Cain,
his heart breaking with deafening sound.
There are no shadows…
if your world has thousand suns,
hellish planets with cold moons populated
with cackling witches, ice that forever burn,
wheelchairs angels with Purple Hearts needles
trying to close the opening of their wounds,
universal shrug of many bony dead shoulders
as very far away, another bright star is born.
There are no shadows…
if your world has thousand suns,
as Olympian gods were incinerated at the stake
by malignant extraterrestrials from another world,
the one parallel to the one we are crawling
from which are coming, in your head, their voice,
Armageddon is coming with four wild horses,
the only escape is running into the eternal void.
Unfortunately and very sadly this is all to often true. Those who fought in battle and the families left behind are always left to fend for themselves when they deserve to be treated so much better. It may be the way it is and always has been, but it never excuses the fact that this treatment still remains very wrong....
Thank you for this disturbing but wonderfully written poem Georg. My late hsband was a veteran of two wars, shot twice, survived in a jungle alone for three weeks, and our so called government ignored the fact that he lived in pain for the remainder of his life. He received a pittance of a disability pension and now that he's passed away I, his widow, receive nothing. Although I treasure them, his Airborne wings and Purple Heart Ribbon don't buy groceries. That's just another side of the ignoring of the plight: the widows are ignored also.
They fight for their country
then come home to fight for their rights
a battle like spitting into the wind
or pissing into the oceans surf....
nothing accomplished nothing changes,
but the numbers of wounded and dead
Peace Brother, may God bless out troops in all fronts

Georg, Brother, this powerful poem needs to be published where those who do not understand "Semper Fi" can have their eyes opened (just a little). Good one (as always) :-)
War is hell: and for some, it continues long after the battle is over. Shame. NO Veteran should be living on the streets, or go hungry, or live from hand to mouth, on a pension that wouldn't feed a mouse - shame. Georg, this is powerfully penned sadness: well done, and thank YOU for your service!
Where there are no suns, no light will be, for you to see, in all eternity. Death, hear nothing, see nothing, feel nothing.
Feel nothing the state of paradise, no more hurt, false happiness undressed, no more pain! Just being, Being one with all, no more emotional attachments, yet down here those soldiers suffer an immense slow death, for lack of caring, hopefully, the new Czar of Veterans affairs ,is a man of his word. Blessings! Jasmin Horst
The VA has a new head, hopefully his has some compassion inside of it more so than the last one & the one before that, and before that and so on...this country does not care for its vets, hell, our animals get better treatment, more humane etc...Ed

A veterans soul is one of secrecy and torment. Your words tell of the other world some vets live in till death. The world they hide from their loved ones, only to visit each night as they try to sleep.
The hell that a combat vet goes through is well detailed in this deep and foreboding poem that happens after every war and is neglected by the government they served to protect. Only a vet who has lived through it could describe it as you have.

The violators of the Natural laws of love, creativity, fraternity and cooperative attitude shall have "Nowhere to hide".
I have learned through the lines of "Nowhere to hide".

Thankfully, some still do, like you. And I just posted a blog about the new head of the Veterans Administration. Hopefully, he will, too.
