When all the butterflies died

Some are prisoners inside themselves, some dare to go outside despite a scarred body soul from many unexpected wounds.
Reaching out with expectant lips waiting for a butterfly's kiss but...where are the butterflies?...

Poem Artwork

I stepped outside of myself
into an unforgiving world,
with vacillating insecure feet
which got bogged down
in a long and strange street
made with soft cobblestones,
an unreal inebriating fantasy
where ice is suddenly warm
and the warm of the heart
is suddenly so very cold.

I stepped outside of myself
expecting not the ones old
something surprisingly new
after being buried of my own
in dungeons without giving a
chance to that thing called hope;
should open the heart so wide
that it can hold all the wide love
strewn like hybrid seeds
over the barren face of my world.

I stepped outside of myself
to try, for once, outside the box,
not to look at the bad things around
but only to those that were good,
a soul eremite venturing outside
to see if it was true that cruel doom
that only you can hear saying
that hope was, but all gone,
when all the butterflies died
and their wings are here no more.

compelling sentiment and delicately customized metaphor ... the silky embrace of emotional flight lost to the wind ...

Sad and metaphysical, as the soul is a "butterfly" yearning for freedom and longing to fly with hope. Beautiful emotions masterfully conveyed.

Georg, this is an exquisite poem with imagery that is almost flawless, and though sorrowful it also gives joy that the author can write it and the reader be inspired by it! I love it Bro Edvard!

It's often good to "step outside ourselves", turn around and find the butterflies. Better still to plant the flora that will attract them, and NEVER use pesticides.
As we open ourselves to hope, so shall that dwell within us and comfort us.
You have a caring and loving heart, friend Georg...

THEY HAVE NOT DIED BUT SOMETIMES...BEING HUMAN...IN MOMENTS OF DEEP DISPAIR WHEN THE CLAMOUR OF THE WORLD BECOMES DEAFENING AND THE AIR BECOMES FILLED WITH NUMEROUS PARTICLES OF TURMOIL'S DEBRIS...WE CANNOT SEE THEM...BUT THEY ARE STILL THERE...THANK GOD. THANKS FOR SHARING AND GOD BLESS. JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

The emergence of this poem releases my thoughts into an intimate hidden knowing of these emotions within myself, having had experienced the cruelties of this world & it does cause death of our butterflies trying to spread our wings...tender write Georg...an awareness of compassion embraces this poem with love...

This is poignantly penned sadness, Georg - well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

A world without butterflies would be a colorless place, indeed. :(

No butterlies to kiss, no bees to sting, live is such a varied thing,
usually we want only the good stuff, or the stuff we're used to.
that little big bird, altough it can fly, always still comes back to my hand, after pecking around the compost pile, it knows it is safe there and loved. I give it a chance every day to fly away, it has the choice, the box is open, let's say the mind works the same way.
A lot of inner searching you did with this great piece, it says much.

Great write, it's sad that even in Canada there seems to be less butterflies and bees

...stepping stones in life...so much to see, so much we don't want to see...but we must pick and choose...this is truly another masterpiece Georg.

Georg, sometimes one has to take a chance, to see another part of ourselves, and challenge what we feel and know to be comfortable. Stepping outside, not only opens up our world, but also enlightens our souls. Lovely write, my dear friend, simply lovely!
Peace, love, and light,

Although to step outside the box and outside ourselves is often scarry and often ends up in us experincing things we may not like it also gives us an equal chance to find new things that will delight and fascinate us. If we love we may have our hearts broken...if we don't love we may never live...

We can't lock our selves up with emotions that seek relief, even a butterfly escapes from its cocoon to taste life.
