Dying to go to heavens? Or…

When the old man heard that his lungs were shutting down, slowly, very slowly, second by second he wondered, "where they go after killing him each and everyone of them a little more?"
The birthday cake will look like a practical joke, like a funny calendar of dead seconds.

Poem Artwork

Can a man die bit by bit and not the whole?
if every second counts, where are gone mine?
Because an old watch stop counting hours
when it can’t measure any length of time,
movements as been slowing on the wheels
have clocks like it is supposed a golden heart?

Closing my eyes can only see a deep dark void,
color of eternity without the presence of stars?
someone or something is pushing me away
to leave an existence I certainly didn’t ask.
It will be not departing with an happy hooray
as we came the first day, with that painful cry.

Soul entrapped in a prison made of failing flesh,
empty are the vessel that contained tears, sad,
because all the years used because of sorrows,
and so few were dedicated to learn how to smile,
suddenly the mirror is confronted by the man old
which never knew whatever happened to the child.

Sisyphus, condemned to push uphill a round stone,
then is we, doomed from birth to lose our life,
to carry the heavy dead weight of flesh and bones
corroded by illness, age, becoming a shadow, bad,
the soul is crying to be let free from the prison flesh
knowing that there’s nothing on the pulsating heart.

Reaper Oh Reaper waiting on me since I was born!
Haven’t learned that of Death I am a cheating man?
Don’t get that shovel digging my grave, not yet,
on a barren miserable world where vultures never fly
because there is coming Armageddon of Abraham
and eternity will be for me, a little speck of time.

Can a man die bit by bit and not the whole?
if every second counts, where are gone mine?

Fascinating questions Georg. Something to think about for many seconds, minutes, hours, days, eons. Hugs J

It is marvelous how you replicate the cycle of life by returning to the opening lines. Splendid!

Deeply moving, my friend. We see here all types of genres and that is why we are touched in different ways.

...read this a few times...I see a flash of reflecting on your life, the time ticks on earth, but never after that and yes bit by bit we are all dying it is inevitable, but for now we must 'live' the seconds we have,,,,and that gives a great reason for celebration of birth...so HAPPY BIRTHDAY Georg!

Georg,
You explore the human condition and do it personally, the only real way to make it relate to the reader and to yourself, and you don't hold back or fudge, it is what it is, mortal and finite, but then the 'other side' possibilities open up and there's hope and joy and a new exciting dimension.
Very well expressed.

CAN A MAN DIE BIT BY BIT AND NOT THE WHOLE? ONLY IF HE CHOOSES TO. WHY DO I FEEL THIS WAY? THERE WAS A 'REASON'...A 'PURPOSE' FOR CALVARY. IT WAS NOT A 'LITTLE' THING THAT WAS WROUGHT...CHRIST SHED HIS BLOOD THAT WE MIGHT 'LIVE'!...PHYSICALLY(UNTIL WE ARE CHANGED FROM MORTAL TO IMMORTAL)AND SPIRITUALLY. IN OTHER WORDS; PROVISIONS ARE ALREADY IN PLACE TO KEEP US FROM SUCCUMBING TO THE 'PRESSURES' OF LIVING AND DYING. HOW WE WILL GO IS IN 'HIS' HANDS...WE CANNOT STOP IT...HE HAS SET THE DAY AND TIME AND UNTIL THAT DAY AND TIME...WHY WORRY? STRIVE FOR PERFECTION(WE WILL NONE EVER GET THERE BUT...STILL TRY FOR THAT'S WHERE THE BLESSINGS COME FROM)AND BE JOYFUL IN JESUS! THERE IS A SONG ENTITLED; 'WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS', PART OF IT GOES LIKE THIS; ...OH WHAT PEACE WE OFTEN FORFEIT...OH WHAT NEEDLESS PAIN WE BEAR...ALL BECAUSE WE DO NOT CARRY...EVERYTHING TO GOD IN PRAYER. WHAT A VERY GOOD WORK...AN ENTICING WORK...ENJOYED. THANKS FOR SHARING AND BLESSINGS.

LOVE, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Emotional and soulful are your words. Can a man die bit by bit? I believe they can...and so many do. Each writing you post Georg...is more amazing than before.

It's never to late to smile Georg. I strongly suggest a huge grin for Mr Reaper, then a swift kick to his privates. Then run like hell for another speck of time. Patrick

How emotionally and philosophically thoughtful can one man be?
I love the reference to Sisyphus, a mythological character I have embraced through the years. But Edvard - all the boulders that you have rolled up that hill have never rolled back down again. Except that one that rolled over me last month when you were trying to light your forbidden Cuban.

You have fashioned out of your struggles a grand artistic monument that will last through the ages. And then, when the prophesied Armageddon destroys most of what sits tenuously on an eroding 25 mile thick crust, the Creator will surely place your loving works into the pantheon of giants that overcame whatever life threw at them; as you have. A most insightful work! Enjoyed!
Blessings ...

Take me with you my friend. We'll sip from the stars, visit strippers on Venus and go off-roading on Mars. That's what it's all about. A speck of time for all eternity, as you say.

Them dark days in Sweden are getting to you Pal, get some of that sunny Morgan Rum into you, and should you go while having a glass, you'll never know where and what for, cause you won't care.
