River Of Emotion

Emotions run deep at times.

The river has dried up long ago.
There's nothing but an empty bed
where blue, cool water used to flow.

The emotions are gone now,
dried up like the river.
The flow has been blocked,
filled with rocks and pebbles.

The emotions that were once
flowing in the river of my soul
now lie buried beneath
the parched and cracking soil.

Where green lush vegetation
once did fill my mind with glee
The naked broken branches now
lie scattered in the wilderness
of my barren thorn-filled heart.

But nature has a way of changing.
What's barren may become fertile.
Love has a way of healing
even the desert of a soul.

Beautiful, musical, and I like the hopeful tone of the end, which is not really an end but perhaps a new beginning. RD
