have you ever written a poem
in a coffee shop
me never
I think its so cool
when I go in for my
mocha with soy double
to see all the artsy bearded head bent
scrunched faced staring at the wall types
with their laptops or scrap of papers
they could be poe or Dickinson or Dempsey
I always want to peek over their shoulder
stare at their work
see exactly what they do
but of course that would be rude, distracting
obviously self-incriminating
to the fact that I long to be of their niche
to never wash my hair
and don my uniform of conformism
to shine my aura in public
ahh but is that not what we do
each time we scratch out a verse
each time someone reads of the matters of our hearts
are we not
sharing our insight
our very core of existence
and
anyway mochas cost too much

after reading Dempseys post of today, i promise i will not ever look over his shoulder!!!!
