to make you/me feel better look better
clothes
attitude
tanning
you see belly button piercing was not an option for me
I never knew anyone in my life who had one
now they’re everywhere all over
studs, studs everywhere
MTV, 3 of the 4 girlfriends you bring home
I have a hard time
I think it’s a sexual thing
erotic, sensual
hey you’re my kid whatdyawant from me
you say I think everything’s a sexual thing
your right
I’m old, I’m the mean ole mean ole mommy
and I’m just not as hip
whatdyawant from me
what about scarring
what about infections
what happens when someday
lots and lots of somedays from now
you get pregnant gross scar?
what about winning and losing
this argument
where do we go from here
eyebrows, nose, tongue, tatoo
and then I’m thinking
it really isn’t a crime
it really isn’t worth all of this debate
it is after all your body
but one that I have given full protection to
since before I ever saw your face
you’re a good kid
I know this
you try in school
you help me around the house
you mind your peas and qs
for the most part
but
what’s a mom to do
it is making me crazy
but I want you to know
above all else
this battle that we are in
is because
I love you
plain and simple
you’re my baby girl
and I have only wanted
to do what’s right for you
it’s the only job
that will ever really matter
so
we’ll see
what’s a mom to do??????????????????

My older sister got one in her belly button about 3 years ago. She's no teenager, though. I just like the 3 in each ear for myself.

I've survived many arguements like that!!! ... and have even won a few!!!! lol.... I can't understand people wanting to put holes all over their bodies!!!!... I think it takes away from their own natural beauty... and why would someone want that....

My daughter now has two children of her own and still talking about doing her belly. She will I suspect. I do things that she questions too. As we say whats a mother to do? They say whats a kid to do? I think you caught the spirit of this in this poem. Good write.
I've always wanted my belly-button pierced, but I heard they take a HELL of a long time to heal, and they hurt like hell. I may still do it, but a lot of thought will go into this, lol.

I don't know...this fad will go away in a few years but meanwhile...you will have lots of girls running around with these piercings and tattoos that someday will grow up and say...now what? Most of them will regret it and suffer the consequences when they get older. Personally, I do not like them and it turns me off to have to look at them like "U.S.D.A. choice grade A beef" stamps on meat. Poor cows never had a choice to be branded. But everyone wants to be part of the crowd thinking that is what makes them independent. So to me they are lemurs following each other over the cliff. I am glad I am not in your position. Good luck to you, whatever happens.
