my first husbands grandfather

he taught me a great lesson in life
besides
homemade sausages
and washing dishes in scalding water
and the best hand churned banana ice-cream
ever ever ever made
we laughing one night
together
over the antics of one mr benny hill
and I said
this guy is nuts and this show is about silly
and he looked at me
in complete seriousness
and
said
I’d rather laugh
any day
then cry
and sweetheart there’s a lot to cry about
he
was
so right
think I’ll find me some old benny hill tapes
and
laugh till I cry
Being a Brit I had to visit Benny Hill. This is so true but although there is some surreal comedy at AD the USA does not seem very comfortable with silly. Perhaps we should form an Axis of Silly and distract Dubya from dropping bombs on people.
