for my mom

did you ever notice
that
bodies break
sometimes for no good reason
or at least for no self inflicted reason
they
just don’t work right anymore
happens
everyday
just happens to be happening
to someone I really love
like
my
mom
now this brokenness has been coming on
no surprises
we have been waiting on some big ole long list
for somebody to cough up a liver
sad thing is you gotta die first
to share
but
you know how I feel about that
been sitting patiently for about two years now
tapping toes on borrowed time
now
other parts are starting to bow out
kidneys now
just friggin saying we don’t want to play no more
how
come
I’m not surprised
one part gets all the attention
with its broken game and other parts say
fine
I’ll show you
see
there Now your paying attention
do I have your attention
I just won’t do my job here
and that’ll teach you to go praying for another
liver
there how does that feel
f***ers
I hate this part of life
it
is
no fun
my mother is a good person
a great person
for crying out loud
she made me
didn’t she
I am here because of her
she won’t take part of my liver
I tried besides I drink too much and mines not all
that great anyways
but
in a heartbeat they could cut me up from
pube to sternum I could care less
I reckon she worries about
me
having some sort of complication or other
whatever
the real pisser is
she
didn’t ever drink or abuse Anything
that’s the pisser
some bad blood from some operation or other
before things got weird with HIV and all that
got herself some HEP shit
that’s the pisser
I
know
I know already
these things happen
meant to be
bullshit
I know all of that
but when your mom is laying there with friggin
tubes and machines and shunts and can’t figure
out who the f*** you are
tends
to piss you off
and the motherf***er who gave up the bad blood
bad vibes
who needs it
focus on
the best course of action right right
agreed understood
the battle of trying to keep my mom alive
is
on
and I promise you this
I am a worthy adversary
I will f*** you up
I will not go down without every single f***ing
rock turned over
promise
cross my heart hope to die
stick a needle in my liver and pull out a chunk
and take a kidney too while your at it
take the whole f***en package
I’d do that you know
for
my
mom

Oh Josie, how much you are suffering over this and my words are too feeble to offer much comfort. But I do feel for you and your Mother. Bill
