Beneath a Busy Overpass

A homeless man made primetime news
For eight long years he lived
Beneath a busy overpass
He built himself a plywood shelter
No larger than a garden shed
He paid no taxes, rates, or light bills
Yet he did have electricity!
Now the overpass is to be revamped
And the man was asked to leave
He refused, of course
For after all, the shed, though illegal
Was his precious little home!
So an eviction notice was served
But still he refused to leave
That’s when the authorities had no choice
But to bodily carry him out
Amidst homeless activists shouts
“Leave him alone, this is his home.
He has squatter’s rights!”
Injustice of any kind is sad
And losing a home can be devastating
But when the home is illegal
Shouldn’t the law be respected?
These days it seems that
Right is wrong, and wrong is right
The Spirit of anti-Christ is at large
Abiding rules of any kind triggers rebellion
Everyone wants to do what’s right in his own eyes
Then we wonder what’s wrong with our world
And question where is God in all this
Thing is, we can’t have it both ways
Chose whom you will follow!
“The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men
to see if there were any that did understand, and seek Him.”
(Psalm 14:2)
We need not look the other way," for whatsoever we do not do for one of the least of these, we do not do for HIM"
