I do remember someone once told me
That I could be whatever
I wanted to be
So, I decided to be black
The winter of one year a while back
When fall fell over the land
You found me in the shade
Resembling burnt sand.
But WATCH OUT come Spring
‘Cause I got’s ta do my THANG
And certainly
Honey Blond will bring
‘dem bees aggressively
Buzzing ‘round me
Stickers erect
Trying to suck my neck (tar)
But I’ll put ‘em quick in-check
Now summer is all together
The hottest weather
So blond - begone
In rare form I come correct
Sable, though lovely
Is unable to achieve the desired effect
So I chose Fire Red instead
And like Stevie you said
“It’s Hotter Than July!”
I say
Who are you to decide what hue suites me
I am the color I want to be
Yes, I am Revlon, Clairol &
I am
