I’ve got a right to sing the blues,
I’ve got a right to foolish skies,
I’ve got a right to cry me a river,
Why not?
It’s deep within these eyes.
I’ve got Georgia on my mind-
Listening to Billie Holliday, that’s Miss Brown to you,
With strange looking fruit in sitting in my basket Tennessee is my destination,
Look for me,
I’ll be driving right through.
I’ve got a twitch about the eye,
I’ve got loneliness in my heart and anger deep within my soul,
Whatever you do don’t take the needle of that record, let the band play,
My pain is out of control
I’ve got a right to sing the blues
