Give me the spotlight so I can breathe like Adelina Patti and sing soprano,
A can of soda to keep my mouth moist and Ray Charles sitting at a piano,
Momma bought me a trumpet and said,
“Son make music,”
“Fill your cheeks with the air of life,”
“Exhale and listen to your soul when the time is right,”
I’m going to make music like my mother told me; I don’t care what others see,
Even if no one dances to this melody I’m still going to sing-
and make music with the trumpet my mother bought me when I was twelve years old just like Dizzy Gillespie
Yet another poem featured inside my upcoming book of poetry "The Composer," tell me what you think?
