I walk backwards through the light
Wake at dusk to see
your sleeping head
around my neck
how can I forget to laugh
as the noose tightens
and the heart weakens
hours admit nothing
to the still night
My hand moves along your cheek
over lips drowning words
into a sea of dreams
to re-tell a biography
best written backwards
sinking the bones of love
somehow with a ball point pen
climaxed to rage-piercing
wounds on legs strong enough
to kick pain away from arms
grasping for air
stretched along
a glowing horizon
waiting for the whites
of your eyes
to surface
