It is morning!
I am awakened by the sound of music which cuts short my rest.
I climb out of bed, looking out my windows at the mountains in the west.
They stand proudly there as they did yesterday and the day before.
Soon, I am heading for the shower and as I walk through the door
I see my reflection in the mirror and scrutinize how the years have taken their toll.
My hair has grown gray and my body painfully complains to my soul.
As I step into the shower I feel some relief from my pain.
I feel the water washing ore me as a warm summer rain.
Downstairs in the kitchen my coffee is brewing.
As I dry off I can feel my body and soul renewing.
Now I am ready for another day of life.
I know that the day may bring joy or great strife.
That cup of coffee I sip from helps clear my mind.
However, as I drink it, my soul is searching to be realigned.
For each day, I search my spirit for renewed enlightenment.
I quietly breathe a prayer that even I do not hear
I send a message of love to the one who is always near.
“Dear Jesus, son of God,” I quietly pray.
I thank you for it is now another day.
You have given me once more life renewed
My mind quietly reflects and all my yesterdays are reviewed.
However life starts again with today, and then comes tomorrow.
I know you will stand by me through triumph and sorrow.
The greatest joy about growing old, perhaps the only one
Is the joy of feeling closer and closer to God’s only Son.
This is a day, the lord has made.
Let us be grateful and rejoice in it.
This was a wonderfully light and uplifting poem! And the photo is awesome...is that truly your view? I'd probably never come away from the window, long enough to write! LOL
