I did not dream this but only imagined what the dream may have been. One could say that life is but a dream. Dreams can become nightmares. Did you know we are the creators, authors and producers of our dreams? Why dream? Contemplate life while awake.

Unfruitful Sleep, Wondrous Awakening

My sleep was not a restful one as I tossed and turn throughout the night.

I dreamed I could not find myself for I was surrounded by darkness looking for the light.

I called out to my Heavenly Father but he was nowhere to be found.

I walked alone in the pitch black darkness, unable to see and not hearing a sound.

I heard only my own voice calling out and coming back to me as an echo.

I had no idea where my foot steps led me for I could not see where I go.

“Am I walking into hell?” I thought for God seemed so far away.

Is the one place I feared most of all where my eternal soul would have to stay?

Ahead of me there shown a light but only long enough to glimpse at it.

It sparkled and then it faded away from above where I stood in the black pit.

When I had all but given up, I saw the light again.

This time it grew brighter and a voice said “I will forgive your sin.”

That is when I opened my eyes while lying in my bed.

I breathed a prayer of thanksgiving to God as the morning sunrise cast its glow of yellow and red.

Dear Lord, I prayed I thank you for I have seen another day.

I thank you Lord that your love has guided me as I trek along the way.

I pray you will not leave me alone, not knowing where I go.

I pray that you will always be my comfort and teacher as I live and grow.

He whispered into my ear, “My child, “Reap good things, and good things shall you sow.

In doing so you will never know the loneliness you have just dreamed about.

You will know love, compassion, and encouragement but you will have no room for doubt.

Another dynamic, inspiring piece of writing, Lew. Dreams...I love them. In my prayers I usually ask for great adventures, which include my hubby. I'm never disappointed...but if perchance a scary dream occurs, I somehow instinctive beginning to quote Scripture.

God Bless
Lena

I tend to do my spiritual dreaming on the move - day dreaming in other words. These are not the stuff of idyll; they tend to be provoked by introspection, a bad practice for a sensitive guy. I end up breathing long sighs in the realization that it has been me who has left God not the other way about. Ed, my prayer life could be better. I tend to panic pray triggered by a passing thought or act of questionable behaviour. Your pages are fast becoming a devotional source for me. Thanks for your thoughtful insights.

Great prose on the dependence we should all have on our creator. He will grant forgiveness if we but repent of our sins and ask.
