What is Life?

We have not had a snow yet here. I couldn’t shovel it anymore but I can still remember being mesmerized by the snowflakes each one of which never seemed to be in a hurry but lazily and gently proceeded to a spot on the ground. As flake fell upon flake the ground was soon white and pure. These memories are what inspired the next poem.

Poem Artwork

Snowflakes lazily floating in the winter air,
Flitting here and there seemingly without a care.

They search for a place where they can lay themselves down
And as they do, they will transform the ground.

They will also cover the nakedness of the trees.
The snowflakes find themselves directed there by the winter’s breeze.

It is so much as if someone planned the falling of the snows.
The flakes are not falling but are directed by the crisp wind that blows.

All of life is like that; the spring, summer, winter and fall.
Someone carefully engineered them, one and all.

Someone who knew what would come from his labor of love.
It was he who created the rain, the beasts of the forest and the dove.

The next time you find yourself mesmerized by the snow so white
Look toward the Heavens and proclaim with great delight,

“God I praise you for you have given life for me to live.
Now I will pray you give me faith so that I may give.

Help me give to the poor, to the needy to the downtrodden and sad.
Let me give with a heart that takes great delight and is glad.

For you have first given to me what’re I may need.
Give me the will to pass these on by kind word and good deeds.

Another excellent write, Lew. Giving fills the heart with joy, that is true. Yes, God has given us lots, what have we given Him in return?
Love the setting for a warm, cozy night!

God Bless
Lena
