The following poem is purely fictional although sadly true for many people. It was inspired by the following quote:
"The density of people in society is so thick that we forget that life will end one day. And we don't know when that one day will be. So please, tell the people you love and care for that they are special and important. Tell them, before it is too late."
~Paula Fox
“I love you!” That is not a hard phrase to say
But one from which John Loveless would shy away
His mother said it to him on many a day
But John could not bring himself to say
He loved his mother with all his heart
But they were words he could never seem to impart
One day he met a beautiful lady who pledged her love to John
But although he felt love for her he could not respond
One day his mother lay ill upon her death bed
She softly took his hand, squeezed it and said
“I know you love me, my Johnny, dear
But I sense within you a horrible fear
Things like this a mother knows
But she also knows how fast life goes
Go home, kiss and hug your beautiful wife
Take a deep breath and proclaim I love you and will for the rest of my life
If you fail to do this my Johnny, my child before it’s too late
the deepest lifelong sadness will become your woeful fate.”
A good person but has fears of expressing emotions. It has something to do as fear of being rejected or HURT as I see it. It is very hard to bring her (them) out of their shell. What a pity to let something as beautiful as (LOVE) die; never expressed and when a loss occurs (as in death) so much remorse (hurt) felt but (GOD) WILL UNDERSTAND.
Peace,
Dayvid
This is true of so many people. I plead guilty. Life is short, you never know when death will come and the words you wanted to say lay forever dormant. Wonderful poem.
