Jesus told us a sad, sad truth. One that causes great sorrow
For man has never mastered the art of love which would build a better tomorrow
Jesus said there would be wars and rumors of wars, a sad but true prediction
The need for power and selfish desires are reasons for man’s affliction
If only we could learn to live in peace and practice brotherly love
Then violence would have no place on Earth for we could have risen above
Woe to us for we have not yet awakened to this sad, sad fact
We still believe in an eye for an eye and this governs how we react
What a violent world we find ourselves living in when men are driven by hate
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth means we’ll be blindness and toothless and that will be our fate
Love thy neighbor as thyself and practice forgiving thy brothers
As you would have them do unto you so too should you do to others
