The attacks on America

SEPTEMBER 11th 2001

Ripples of our flag brush through a silent wind today
Confronting a nation of disbelief
Tears lie along trying to understand a frozen escape
Lonesome sounds, familiar voices begging to hear
One haunting act sacrificed many known
Last word heard, many only can reminisce

Lives taken away, some of them funny, some just a welcome to come too
Personalities created, now candleing a photo, have you seen
Hearts attacked and torn away, away
Even never seen, hearts compile emotions pouring all around
Prayers, songs, sights, new lives surrounded and found
Stranger’s arms cover, placing a shoulder for returning tears

Smoke covering a nation of pain stricken why’s
Breeding anger overwhelmed with heavy anguish
Lives touched in tragedy, though a nation bands together
Searching never ends for the silent unhearing
Tears heard worldwide, we will keep on standing
Shoulders lean out with hands that welcome

One day we lost our strength
Every other day, we build, remember, and never forget
We lost many on that frigid day of sadness
Set sights along and remembrance through ability to reflect
Lives that have been torn away in that selfish act
We’ll never take our memories that are braced away

Ripples of our flag brush through a silent wind today
