Dogs of War
The dogs of war keep nipping at our heels,
but most have no idea how it feels.
For those that have not felt that fear,
they simply fantasize and cheer.
Their heroes always win.
Knowing that they are coming close,
and the fear creeps up your spine,
your life hangs in the balance,
and there is no magic lifeline.
To be torn from your country,
a refugee with no home.
To stay would be suicide,
when the dogs of war roam.
For there is no redeeming mercy,
when a bomb goes off in your face.
Or you are savagely beaten,
while a rifle butt takes your place.
There is nothing patriotic,
about going off to war.
We paint wonderful pictures of it,
conveniently omitting the horror.
We think of country and honor,
when we should think of lost lives.
People caught in fatal circumstance,
where the dog of war thrives.
For wars are fought for power,
wars are fought for pride.
Wars do much more harm than good,
a fact we cannot hide.
So the next time the dogs of war,
come howling at your door.
Think twice about what you wished for,
like so many gone before.
There is no glory in victory,
with so many innocent dead.
There is no leaving it behind,
for soldiers with the dogs of war,
still running wild in their head.

My gess is that most military campaigns originate from the
"Mad" men, from Madison Avenue, also.
"For God and Country!" ... Get that blood boilng, so Adrenalin Highs
can outweigh Intellgent Thinking.
In the "Holy Wars" or Crusades of the 1200's & 1300's,
The Christian Knights had their banners,flags, shields,and
armor adorned with the emblem of that Red Cross, as God
Was on Their Side!
Likewise, the Saracens and Moors had Allah to support their cause.
"Might. Is Right!" "Full Speed Ahead... Damn the Torpedoes!"
The Roman Legions had their Drums to scare the opponents.
"Yankee Doodle Dandy" had fifes & drums.
John Phillip Souza had complete Marching Bands.
"Remember the Alamo!"
"Remember the Maine!"
"54 40, or Fight!"
"Remember 9-11 !"
"Weapons of Mass Destruction!"
"David and Goliath"
Challengers & Champions - Jousting - Chess - WAR !!!
"The Charge of The Light Brigade" ...
Zulu Warriors beating their Spears against their Shields, instlling Fear!
The French & Indian War - The Revolutionary War - The War of 1812 -
The Civil War... What was so 'Civil' about it ?
WWI - WWII - The "Korean Conflict" A "Police Action"!!!
The Viet Nam War ... Stupidity Personified !!!
The "Cold War" ... "Desert Storm" - The War in Iraq -
The War in Afghanistan - The "Arab Spring" ...
Futility ... Death ... Horror ... Maimng ...
"WarMongers" getting Richer, and Richer, and Richer ...
Meanwhile, the Coffers of our Treasury being Depleted by Hundreds
Of Billions of Dollars, All beng Paid For, on the Backs of The Middle Class !
Did Haliburton & Cheney Suffer Much? A Big Hell No!
We are Supposed to Learn from Our Mistakes!
What If ... All "Foreign Aid" was Completely Stopped for a short period,
And All those Hundreds of Billions $$$,$$$,$$$,$$$ were Diverted to
Treating, and Healing, and Savng ... All those Millions of VETERANS and
Their Families ???
SHAME ON CONGRESS! SHAME ON EVERY ADMINISTRATION !
SHAME ON THE AMERICAN PUBLIC !
OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS DESERVE BETTER...
ESPECIALLY FROM THE " RICHEST NATION ON EARTH" !!!
DO WE REALLY WANT A "LOOSE CANNON" WITH HIS FINGER ON
THE "RED BUTTON" AS "COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF" ???
