Another three hour waste of my time dealing with AI contact trying to solve a rather simple problem.

The Last Second

Notice: Update your Office Suite,

My life blood as an author,

Not because it is so neat,

Or because it is so sweet.

It's automatic, so I let it go,

It's usually very quick,

And never, ever slow,

Just an effortless little trick.

As usual, it finished every step,

Lickety-split, until the last second,

When it hung up for a moment,

Faltered for a long minute.

An hour went by,

And then another two.

The longest second,

That ever came into view.

I entered a Microsoft chat,

And talked to their AI.

I asked for a live agent,

She hung up, Bye-Bye.

I finally got through,

To a real live agent, who,

Tried everything he could,

To figure out what to do.

But asked me to go,

Where they fix Macs, too.

With his narrow tools,

Nothing he could do.

Two Apple guys helped me,

Until they also gave up,

On that last second undone,

Last bitter drop in the cup.

I checked once more,

If the update was still late,

Was told when I tried,

“Your apps are all great."

“You are now up-to-date."

HMMMMM, WELL...YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT AI, RON...
HOWEVER, MY DAUGHTER WHO IS DOING SOME EDITING FOR ME HAS A 'GIRLFRIEND' CALLED AI. SHE KNOWS HOW I FEEL BUT 'SUGGESTED' THAT HER 'GIRLFRIEND' COULD 'UPDATE' MY BOOKCOVER WITH ME MAKING WHATEVER CHANGES I DESIRED. I TRUST MY DAUGHTER...SO, I AM IN THE PROCESS OF 'CORRECTING'. HMMMMMMM(SMILE). THANK YOU...LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

It can be frustrating. I've certainly found that out firsthand. Still, I've found A.I. is beneficial for research, and at times helpful in clarifying facts. But I always double or triple check with other search engines. Elon Musk said: "A.I. is like summoning the demon." Yes, there's that part of it for sure. Especially at this stage of development. A.I. can be powerful, no doubt, but it demands careful handling to avoid unintended consequences. A.I. is not just about ease of access to information and tools, but about how we integrate it into our human values, ethics, and self-awareness. Time will tell. Thanks for sharing. Peace. r

You lay out clearly how a single frozen second can hijack an entire day. The mix of frustration, humor, and irony—ending with everything “up‑to‑date” after all—makes this a relatable, interesting piece.
