Ode to Politicians

Nobody ever writes poems about politicians so I thought I'd try. It was not easy, the only more difficult topic for a poem I think would be science.

 

Hear the audio: Ode To Politicians

I curse all politicians,
a plague upon their houses,
may they get gravel in their soup
and earwigs in their trousers.


May expenses all be scrutinised
by curmudgeonly auditors;
may they dine on dodgy sushi
and end up with the squitters

For politicians fool us
with their scheming and their spin,
they tell us to drink water
while they all drink champagne

They tell us to be frugal
while they feather their own nests,
steal from the poor to pay the rich;
the hypocrites whom we detest.

I curse all politicians,
with their weasel worlds and wiles,
may they suffer athlete's foot,
and flatulence and piles.

It would have been nice to have some rhymes which rhymed.

Ian, I can relate to this write. We truly have a swamp here in America. It's too dark and dangerous to even think about. Interesting and different write.

Don't curse them Ian, but if you're a praying person pray for them. The trouble is this: they think that they can work miracles so they will make promises about what they are going to do; only to find out after they got in that there is no money to do what was promised.

I hate politicians too, but they don't just steal from the poor. They steal from everybody to pay their friends. Not everyone who is rich gets favorable treatment from a politician. Just the one's who paid them off. ~ Sara

The ending sounded a bit Monty Python, with all the flatulence and stuff. Really funny, though.
