Our special relationship that we share began some time ago,
And with every year that passes by, it only seems to grow.
You became the one who instilled values in me, teaching right from wrong.
With you I found my place in the world, feeling that I belonged.
There were those times when I did err and cause you pain and grief;
But thankfully for me, you forgave and forgot, welcoming me back with relief/
not all the time am I easy to course, my thinking understood,
But being the person that you are, you always search for the good.
Since time goes on, we both do age, but on you it takes its toll.
Now YOU are the one who needs the help, an outstretched hand to hold.
As I find in life the fruit of YOUR labor, my greatest wish would be
That I can bring you both love and joy, returning what you've given to me.

This is a lovely poem. She must be very proud of you in so many ways.
