You write about what you know and what is in your heart. If it is liked then it's uplifting. One must remember that one cannot please everybody. There's nothing wrong in that. What I don't like is a person who writes : I like what I write only, the rest is trash. There was one such person and I fear this person is back, under another name. We will see. But all writers here should give what's in their heart and that will just be fine for most of us. Victor

As long as we are changed by what we write in some way, some metamorphosis has taken place at a greater or lesser level... for ourselves or someone else, somewhere... then the writing has been validated. I am constantly surprised by what "appeals" in my writing and what not... And I am ALWAYS proven to be no judge of my own work, so I would say, trust your own heart and trust your readers; between the two sides of the fence, some enlightenment or benediction will have fallen for certain sure. And often, I find, work is better understood and re-evaluated by the self in retrospect. Good to keep asking the questions, though, and appraising both the process and the inspiration. Well done! You are a very good writer, never doubt that. Poetry is the song of your soul. You inner world speaking with wisdom and love to share what you have acquired through all your life on this earth. We must get out voice out there, it is important to share this either in poetry, song verses, books, short stories, doesn't matter, as long as our energy is sent with good intention. You are one of these people...don't ever stop.

We all like to think that what we write will be memorable, and hopefully, some of it is. But I also believe that writing is therapeutic, helping us as you say to make sense of our own worlds, and that, too, is a very good thing.

Karen anything we write on paper becomes poetry and different people like different styles and we must not question ourselves because of someone like we had visit our sites, what we do in that case is remove their remark and continue on with what we do so well and that is to share our herat with our family here on AD. Thank you for sharing.

I think all poetry and prose is memorable to someone and if it is from our hearts then that is enough to make it poetry. The sad part is when people who may well be wonderful poets who do have something to say or offer but are even a little introverted get accosted by the likes of what was on the den last week...it chips away at their desire to share their work and that is a crime.

I think, as writers, we are our own worst critics and can be our own worst enemies. We long to share the "perfect product" and deep in our hearts, we think we have. Yet, poetry is an art which is often left more open to multiple interpretations of a single work. I think, that fact alone, can sometimes lead us to become "blinded," in our own bias towards a piece we have written, when others see a meaning, different than our intented thought.

Just my viewpoint on the matter. This was an excellent "food for thought" poem, Karen.

Maybe we should look closer at our own works....whether they are ramblings or prose or even true poetry, we still strive to complete ourselves and at times we expose our inner selves....it is left to the reader and or reviewer to see what they see...feel what they feel...and decide what they decide...
