      Because she is sick

We are speaking again

I call every day,

Send hand written letters and trinkets and such

Great joy she finds

In the love and beauty of my grandchild-

Her great niece

Who sends love and faith and her pure beliefs

Her voice to me is like a summer rain

Refreshing in the heat of life

But I would give it back

And live in the desert of life without her

If she could be rid of this horror

And the pain and the dread and the sorrow

I would remove it from her and take it myself

And if wishes were horses, beggars would ride

Karen,
Sometimes we forget that suffering isn't just felt by those of us who are sick but also by those who love us. Thank you for reminding me of that today. I hope you don't mind that I've included you and your aunt in my prayers today.
Love,
Marilyn

Sad but such a good poem. The reasons for everything in life. I love this line, if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

Karen,

So sad, yet full of love and compassion...too bad it took illness to get y'all to talking again...y'all are in my prayers.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

"Airs Above the Ground" quill, Karen...those legendary Lipizzaner Stallions...heavenly...nice delivery and dressage...it's poems like If Wishes Were Horses that need to be preserved for your family's next generation as a tribute to the hoof and heart...

Love,
Sage

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
