written on the brink of feeling that i am so often cheated of the solitude i need in order to digest the moments in my life

Poem Artwork

Seconds tick by and minutes and hours

Each longs to be savored, added to one’s repertoire

Some for the beauty encased therein

Others for the pain of a lesson to be learned

One may linger within space and time

As tears well in overwhelming sorrow

Breath may be taken away by immeasurable beauty

Or gasped away at the cruelty some display

One needs time to savor and digest

What life’s moments add to their existence

A bit of quiet solitude can be such a gift

To glean from living, the depth hidden within

You are absolutely correct...we need more than a few moments to share...with ourselves...the reflection and solitude can rejuvenate the soul...

Time, some wish they had more of, I know I do. Having time to reflect and observe is good for the soul.

Yes, most of us yearns for that special solitude, where everything seems to be suspended and all you can hear is your deep breathing, all you can feel is your heart beating, all you can see are the trash and treasures of a human mind... this can give one a sense of renewal. Thank you for sharing, Karen.

Be well,
Sheri

I completely agree with you, Karen. I am reminded of the "chaotic" nature of my life not so long ago. I am grateful to have access to a lot of peace and quiet now. Thank you for sharing these worthy thoughts. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis

Yes we all yearn for that solitude even those of us who have lots of time alone don't necessarily have the inner calm to really and truly reflect and contemplate our time.

I've always felt the same, and the older I get, the more I seem to appreciate that gift.

Karen,

Ah! Those are the moments we'll remember. The sound of a feather as it hits the floor. So long lasting that one never forgets. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.

It is rare to find words with which one can agree... to the letter!
Fret not, wife, mother, volunteer, worker lady; you're normal.
I know that you long to be closeted and contemplative, but that, too, comes at a price. Take what is there. Be thankful, and use it for the better time out of hectic living ! ! ! - Friend Bill

Beautiful poem that conveys an important message of making sure we make the time neccessary for solitude and meditation. I couldn't get by without it!

Karen,

You're right, we've forgotten what it was like to take time for US. We give and give and give until there is nothing left - only wasted days. An excellent thought provoker.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
