feeling a bit blue --

Poem Artwork

The pictures of your life

hanging on the wall

make obvious all you have

and all you’ve done

Peering into them

I am left with such a feeling

Of failure

Or is it just empty

Wishing for all I have not

And all I have not done

Reflecting of the past...yet there is still more within the future...just need to wish, wait, and ... dream some more...

Dear Karen,

I know this feeling but we only fail when we stop trying. Soon, you'll be hanging new pictures!

Love & Light always and in all ways,

I hope it's a feeling that'll be gone, null and void by morning! It's true as they say, the sun will shine soon. Cheers

"Wishing for all I have not And all I have not done"

This is really good...those last lines sum up a great deal in life. I know as I grow older I find myself grasping with those same thoughts...this is excellent.

Recognising how we feel is a start to an adjustment of perspectives. Families are wonderful, but they are often the primary place that we associate sibling comparisons, rivalry even, from a very early age. I like the bare statement of fact here. It is naked and vulnerable and reminds me of something I was trying to capture in Self Nude. We have, perhaps, to see ourselves as we are, with both weaknesses and massive potential, before we can be honest about how to go about working with them. As nice as trophies might be on one level, it is a trap to others and ourselves to let them define us. It can only lead to struggle and disappointment in the long run, however they enhance the "feel-good" at the time. xx

Karen, many have awards, achievements, etc., hanging on their walls but I'll bet they don't have the kindness and love you show to others...this out weighs all the greatness one might have. I'm sure in the eyes of others you rank high as an achiever and as a person who has given much of yourself to others. Don't allow old man winter to fool you into thinking you're a failure because you've got much to give to this world.

I think most of us in this thing called life feel the very same at many times in our lives. And may all our wishes come true.

Interesting ... but what about all your accomplishments? To me, what I've achieved fills my heart with joy. The stuff I haven't done, I chalk-up to lack of time or whatever. It's my half-full glass philosophy.

God bless you. Kathy

Many people suffer post holiday depression. Even just a few days of it, hope you get your mind centered quickly, it isn't fun feeling down for too long! Excellent poem Karen!

When I'm blue my monsters are green....
Don't think about failure, Karen - rather about accomplishments! For those you have plenty!

An Abraham Hicks quote "All is well, and you will never get it done. Life is supposed to be fun. No one is taking score of any kind, and if you will stop taking score so much, you will feel a whole lot better -- and as you feel a whole lot better, more of the things that you want right now will flow to you. You will never be in a place where all of the things that you are wanting will be satisfied right now, or then you could be complete -- and you never can be. This incomplete place that you stand is the best place that you could be. You are right on track, right on schedule. Everything is unfolding perfectly. All is really well. Have fun. Have fun. Have fun!

My daughter did me a memory book a few years back of all the things I had done in life from being an actor, a writer, a volunteer, military etc but when I looked through it the biggest success to me was still being a good Dad...

A sad write...we all have regrets and would do things differently if we could go back and do them over...you've captured the emotions well within this poem...makes one stop and think...but remember tomorrow is always another day another opportunity to do what we've not, to perfect what we've done, the only we regrets we should really have is if we didn't try at all! Thought provoking indeed! Well done!
Blessings,
Joyce B.
