The quilt

In time the ragged edges of life

Come together and understanding is gained

Lessons are learned and wisdom gained

Frayed ends soften and grow smooth with age

In time, inner peace flows over the soul

Like the squares of a patchwork quilt

Stitched in unison with tears and laughter

Then knotted with angst and bliss

Each square a piece of the pictures of a life

Melded to form a whole being

It covers the spirit and keeps one warm

Giving comfort in rest and the strength to go on

A beautiful write with a wonderful comparison...my grandmother was a quilter, she pieced and quilted each of her children and grandchildren a quilt when they married as well baby quilts. I cherish my quilts that mamaw made, and as a child loved to watch her piece them on her peddle sewing machine, she actually taught me how to quilt...I hardly ever quilt anymore, but my sister is an avid quilter also taught by my grandmother. Enjoyed this much...
Blessings,
Joyce B.

The oldest quilts, the ones with the most life experienced, are after all the softest ones!!

There is something about a quilt that is very cozy and comforting, I love the way you 'tied' this together.

Oh how I love to roam up and down the aisles of handmade quilts, selling on the side roads up in the mountains on my way through the Blue Ridge or in Amish Country in Lancaster, Pa. Handmade quilts are the photo albums of yesteryear...Adding patches of special dates to remember or honors bestowed...children born, marriages...wrapped up around you on a cold winters night...
This pen brings so many memories back and speaks to me through the warmth it generates...
Love and Peace~

Such a beautiful warm metaphor of life, that says so much for what we learn as we pass through the years of experience gained with each piece.
