came to me as i see so many children who are left to flounder around while others stand by and pass judgement on their choices - I know how it feels

Swimmer

Family and friends stand on the shore

Watching as she flounders-Flailing legs and arms

Cause white water foam that ripples to forever

(No one had thought to give swimming lessons)

Discussions ensue among those on shore

Will she sink or swim, how does she look?

Drifting farther from all, she never calls out

Exhausted she floats, beginning to sort it all out

Those on shore soon tire and leave the scene

Cheap talk and drama, all so sure of themselves

They know all the answers, why couldn’t she see

But as they all go, she floats with ease through the sea

gee Karen reminds me of one of my swimming incidents when I was young, I barely made it to the side of the pool while a little boy watched me almost drown and go down, I was too pround to call out for help

Well done! A great condemnation for the unwillingness to help that is common in our society as a whole. At least there are those that still do help.

Stay well and keep writing.

As a competitive swimmer I have never thought to look at life this way. This is a great reminder for us to not pass judgement, but lend a helping hand instead!
Great write, Karen!

Your poem shows the compassion within thought...a visual where we can grasp reality and ponder it's emotional impact...

nice Karen...

Metaphors galore abound withint the structure of this poem, Karen . . . You have been busy . . . I particuarly like this poem of self-survival . . . Bravo . . . Yeah, I know it is supposed to be brava for ladies, but I don't care, means the same thing, we are just too sensitive these days . . .
