Scraps Of Thought

I sometimes feel some angst in my life

As peace and solitude are hard to come by

No time to just hang out with and collect my thoughts,

Listen to the snow fall, rain on the roof or birds on the wing

Someone always needing, wanting

“Grandma, Mom, Karen or Ms Vanderlaan

Whinnying, meowing, whining, barking,

Feed us, pet us, love us all.” And, oh, I do

So thoughts jump at me-opportunists, they

While driving in the car in the middle of a favorite song

Cleaning the stalls, with a pitchfork full of straw

Or while chopping an onion, cooking dinner for all

So scraps of paper, envelopes, receipts

Have scribbled on, almost illegible scraps of thoughts

Then stuffed into  pockets, or a wallet or purse

To be pulled out and deciphered at the end of each day

Seems we all do it at one time or another
Scribble some note of immediate thoughts
on the rush, on anything one can get a hold of
Than at night try to decifer,
what looks like chicken scratch
thanks for sharing
Love & Peace be with you

William

I am fit to bust after 30 or so years of "answering everyone else's call"... literally, I don't answer the phone anymore. I leave it to the messenger lady so that I'M in control... probably for the first time in my life. This certainly resonates with me, Karen... I am determined to give my "scraps" first place at the table of my time these days... TY Kate xx

honestly, i had some of my deepest insights while cleaning a horse stable in Reno :)...tell the scraps of dark thoughts, you are living life as it comes, and it is a wonderful place....here is another enlightening thought: when Buddha was asked, what did you did before enlightment?, he replied: chop wood and carry water. and what did you do after enlightment? he replied: chop wood and carry water. So you see...what changes is not so much our lifestyle, but our attitude about living it. :) wishing you a wonderful day. and if you are seeking "artistic" time...know that it will be there

I know this feeling well. Sadly, some of my 'best' thoughts come while driving and there is no opportunity to jot the idea, just gotta hope it 'sticks' in my memory until I have time to write it. I've decided that those which I can't remember, but were truly great, was a personal conversation with God.

God bless you. Kathy

It's funny how words come to mind, and can also be lost so quickly,, hope you can get some solitude time for yourself.

I usually can't find a scrap of paper when I need one, so I stuff them inside the back of my mind. Sometimes, they rather nicely come out later and I type them out; other times, they are lost back there forever.

In my years, I have watched this like a never ending movie; - one in which I didn't see then, nor now, how you patient, sweet, loving, and sexy woemn, put up with it all, and still pop out of the box at the curl of a male finger! Whhhhoooooooeeeeeeee!

Very well done... and I know this one is a bit "personal."

Isn't easy, but what if silence prevailed in that countryside instead of the calls, pleas, requests, etc. Voices often are richer than the most heralded music.

Such is the world of the committed woman. A fellow writer can identify with this. The theme must have been on one of those very scraps you write about. You really get the picture of your life across. I like it!

Karen,

I hear you, loud and clear! Something will come to me, I'll write it down, hope I can understand what I wrote. LOL Well done, I like how you gathered your thoughts and penned them for us to read. Well done.
