His eyes come to rest on her long, dark hair,
And remembered the ease with which she carried herself.
Remembering hit him like a soft autumn breeze,
Drifting around and through him, with just an edge of cold.
He remembered their first sweet kiss,
It was also his first, they were seventeen.
He recalled them holding hands, fingers well entwined,
And his hands wrapped wround her tiny waist.
In his mind's eye he sees her name by his.
Both names encased in a lopsided heart,
And etched into the grains of the old oak by his home.
His thoughts of her also deeply engrained, forever in his heart.
The boy, now a man, puts his arm around his sweet wife.
They speak softly as they rise to leave,
Of the plans they have for their soon to be born son.
He turns his eyes just one more time, to rest upon her hair.

There are certain traits about my husband and each of my children that will always catch my eye and will be the things I remember and miss about each of them... eyes, smile, laugh, a head tilt, etc... you captured that thought in a poignant and beautiful way.
Stunning contemplating upon memories
Of the time their hearts become one
Outstanding vividness and imagery
I Love this romantic love poem!!

I could really feel this one, it always amazes me how there are certain things about certain people we love that automatically carry triggers or reminders for us, like long hair, or a lopsided grin or even one girl who was a little cross sided but it actually made her look endearing. Anyway great write Karen.

Karen,
This poem is a sweet reminder of the love shared as a couple, before the kids come, the love that can only grow once the children arrive, and the love that cannot cease but strengthen, once the children grow and become independent. Well done.
