A Blouse of Soft Pastel
I watched as a colt you raised,
3000 miles from here,
Galloped across my TV screen.
I couldn’t help thinking….somewhere there,
Beyond the one-dimensional screen,
You were there in person, to see your “Smoky” run.
Maybe in the sunshine of the day,
You wore a skirt and blouse of soft pastel,
.And sunglasses, a bottle of water in one hand,
Excited as, at first, he led the field.
