Listen to the Music

The faraway quality of the radio music,

Takes me back to dreamy memories,

Of the care free days of my youth,

And the making of sweet, sweet love.

So young in the back seat, of a Baracuda,

As the eight track played away,

The best of the Doobie Brothers,

Admonished us to, “Listen To The Music”

But all I could hear was his breathing,

In perfect rhythm with my own,

On that hot summer night,

In a Georgia dirt road alley.

After smell, I think sounds are the most subliminal that tap directly into memory. I love your crisp, clear lines here, Karen, which denote just how clearly this memory has been conjured by this track. A moment relived. The mind is an incredible thing... we have no way of knowing what has been stored there until the miracle of fresh release, freed by such a trigger. An intimate connection you have brought to us. From what I have heard about Georgia, it definitely IS the place of heady experience and warm remembrances. TY Kate xx

Great song 'Listen to the Music'. The radio can take you back, all right. A track comes on and reminds you of a time, a place, or a person.

Reading this was delightful. Good writing in its entirety. Sadly, we had nothing but radio to bring us great dance and moony tunes to breathe by! My generation invented the back sear... by the way.

Ahhhh, Karen, those were the days. I recall many heart-throbbing excursions me and my friends participated in. All the guys with cars, and their dates, liked to get on those back roads where they could race, so all us kids from our small community sort of ganged together. And guess where we parked--in the cememtery--no body bothered us there.

Hadn't thought about those days in years. Thanks for sparking my memory with your cute poem.
