I Remember Love
I remember love, as my daddy tucked his little girl in,
And I remember love, as my pony jumped a great big jump,
Just ‘cause I squeezed my legs against his sides,
And love when us siblings stuck up for each other,
In the wake of an all out fight.
I remember love, kissing, touching, head over heels,
“I would die without you”, love.
Then in the eyes of my babies, such innocent trust,
And the, “I would die for you,” love.
I remember love, tender, carefree, with passion unrestrained.
Then laying in the aftermath,
The scent of that love filling the room,
And the feel lingering on my flesh.
I remember love, though it seems to be,
Farther from my reality these days.
But oh how I cherish the remembering,
And the knowledge that love was there.
