Teetering on the Edge

No one remembers the names,

Of the ones who were lost on the way,

Becoming nothing more than percentages,

Or numbers to be used as data.

So, we attempt to do better from year to year,

But it is already too late for some,

Whose parents flushed them away,

And the kids who dropped out,

Or were lost on the way.

I suppose in the end, it may do some good,

If some of the graphs and the charts and the data,

Can provide us with information and tactics,

To recue even one child who is,

Teetering on the edge of being lost.

Well written Karen, It's time to take a stand for the children. May God bless you every day of your life.

they use to have a tv show called, "dangerous minds," it was about the same thing your poem implicates Karen. I guess there's no perfect way to measure what really goes on the minds of children, some kids tip on the edge then go over, cheers

The people that had prayers in the school is the people building the Golden Gate, the Empire State building and the Moon Landing Eagle.
The people that didn't had prayers in schools are the people concentrating on Antrax, missiles, arms race.
Teetering on the edge you say? you bet!

this grips the heart like a cold steel band wrapped around it, no child should be just a statistic but sadly I know what you say is true. Powerful statement you made here as a voice for those who can't speak for themselves...

When they took prayer out of schools and let the government have charge its then when we lost our children to a secular society controlled by evil people in government.

There is a lot of the teetering on the edge (joke)syndrome(joke) going on. America has lost its moral compass. There were kids teetering and lost before now, but not nearly as many because if the parents weren't responsible their neighbors would intercede and at least call the authorities. We have become a nation of sheep when it comes to many things, and saving our kids is the biggest sin of omission I believe. Bring back morals in school. It doesn't have to be religious-based, in fact I would not like that, but you can damn well teach morals without using Jesus Christ. But no, we don't do that, we encourage "diversity." What a puke word. This is America, we are supposed to all be Americans. Nero is fiddlin'. Got a bit carried away didn't I, Karen?
