Heaven

The fact that it was forbidden,

Didn’t sway the course of the affair,

Perhaps, in fact, it added to the flames.

And spurred on the desires of it’s lovers.

Passion was the fury that fueled the fire,

Reason was left to fend for itself.

Forgotten were alliances and promises made,

All forsaken in the depth of desire.

Two souls were awakened; two hearts beat as one,

He drew her to him with his strength and his charm,

She gave herself to him, willingly and completely.

Mostly their time was spent apart,

In lives spent but not truly lived,

Yearning and pining for one another,

Planning and waiting for the next clandestine meeting,

Longing for the kisses, and the touching, skin on skin.

They were never faced with the common realities;

The mundane truths of every day life and living,

But inevitable truths came to a head,

When she discovered she would bear his child.

So reality became a slap in the face,

Their secret impossible to hide.

She told not a soul, to protect her love,

And she named her daughter, Heaven.
