 Another Mother's Son

I put my hands on another mother's son today,
Held his face between my two hands.
Looked into his eyes and said it would be okay,
Though I could feel that he didn't believe me.

I put my hands on another mother's son today,
His face turned ashen between my hands,
His fear and sadness so evident,
And he thinks this all might just be his fault,
He's been told that so often, what else would he believe"

I put my hands on another mother's son today,
His brown eyes soft, his mouth in a pout,
He said, "I can't go, they will know the truth."
"Won't that be good," I said, "to get it off your chest?"
The silent shrug of his shoulders said it all.

To comfort a child is always such a wonderful blessing for the child and one's self. To reach out beyond one's comfort zone is to instill trust and acknowledgement of a child's worth. Thank YOU!

God bless you,
Kathy

The scars of abuse are on the soul not the flesh. All God's angels aren't in heaven many walk with us here and perform miracles everyday.Caring can be a heavy burden.God does not mean for you to carry it alone.
God Bless

A most moving and meaningful account, Karen. It is very sad that so many children lose the magic of childhood so early in life these days. Love and best wishes to you,

Hi Karen,

I was always overjoyed when I seen the light in children's eyes. And heartsick when that light was snuffed out. Sad that our children are not allowed to be children.... thank you for sharing this... *sniff*

Balance, half my teachers where from the ethereal world of fairy tales, the other half came from sadists dungeons underworld, one gave pain the other provided liniment, they called it "acquiring life's experience!"

Somber bit of poetry, Karen. I wonder sometimes how people such as yourself cope with the world when all around them is "Another Mother's Son." I imagine the horses take some of that pain away. That is unless you decided to jump off and twist another ankle.! Haha Seriously, you are where the human tragedy is real, you don't have to watch the nightly stupid news or read about it in the newspapers, you touch another mother's son/daughter each and every day. god bless you.

Growing up can be difficult if someone is not there to lend a helping hand and understand the child's problem. Teacher's have an opportunity to change the direction a child is going by giving them some responsibility and praise their strong points. Talking to the parents oft times gets to the root of the problem.
