I have often wondered why people rush all the time. It amazes me that someone will pass you at top speed and have to stop in front of yu for a street light gaining nothing.
Just so, Karen, and very well expressed. I am not known for my patience, but, when on four wheels, I truly believe that respect and courtesy are the rules of the road... Having said that, the only time I have used my middle finger (and I DEEPLY regretted it!) was ridiculously to the cuss in front who drove an insanely big-ass car at snailpace then continued to block the road to overtaking whenever anyone tried. I lost my dignity for certain sure... and he laughed even louder as he at last sped away leaving me in a cloud of dust... I don't actually think I could give him the benefit of a "bad day"...but in 99 per cent of cases, yes, everyone deserves to be given the benefit of best thoughts. xx

One man that worked in my dept. did that and at the next red light the guy got out of his car and smashed him in the face. He could have easily shot him. Road rage brings out the worst in people. Good advice, keep your cool while driving. Getting cut off is a common occurrence and I see it happen at least once a week while driving locally on the turnpike. Thankfully very few people let it get the best of them and stay cool.
You know you are so right. We all do this from time to time and never once think about why the person has done what they did. Maybe they have just lost a loved one, maybe they lost their job, found out they had cancer, or been working too many hours trying to keep a family fed. Maybe they are a single mother rushing to daycare to pick up their child before it closes. There could be so many reasons.
Haven't we all at one time or another been a little distracted and done stupid things like cutting someone off, going through a caution light etc. This definately made me think about it...thanks for sharing insights.

You have to drive in the NJ/NYcity area, I think most drivers here are "taught" how to use their fingers & mouths before the horn...& I have NO idea where Andy finds polite American drivers...;-)e
