A poetry of free verse about a subject discussed with a broken heart.
Nights are long and the hush is carnage;
Elizabeth pulled covers tight against her chest,
made riddles up to drip sounds
coming from the bathroom faucet. Turn's
to the empty spot he'd left earlier,
burrows deep to trap the warmth
of his body, not knowing why she yearns
for his heat. The sting of affection
burnt out long ago and an imaginary
barrier sleeps between them at night.
Words spoken are outburst from nightmares,
nothing more.
There were not fights or affairs, they were strangers, yes, strangers, sharing a bed.
She woke one morning to a mute and she was
never clever enought to break his silence.
There were no leg holds or foot play,
her body's icy from hugging chilly
sheets and dreading to sleep face to face
with a stranger. Her nights are hikes
through an arid region, no water and no logic
for being there. She lies awake and waits
for the brilliance of the sun to warm her spirit...
kicks herself for not leaving.

So sad. A break down in communication is ofetn the first step to falling out of love. Great reality, alas. Victor
Emotional and sad write, but says it all,no one should live without love and romance,All your doing is existing,

Ooh, Wow! This is a sad write...but emotions of a story that happens to many. Very powerful write about those whom have simply allowed distance and daily their own daily lives to cause them drift apart and their love to grow cold, creating strangers...powerful!
Enjoyed this sad write, this would make one want to continue small talks, intimate touching, passion, talking, sharing, taking, and all the other daily things that makes up a marriage, for fear of what if???

Chilling and so emotional but it happens and too many feel it. Beautiful job of expressing this relationship....
