Sparkling gold bands a symbol
for a commitment
to have and to hold
until death do us part.
Ring loudly in the church,
a token of our love,
we place on our fingers.
Happiness fills my face,
fears tugs at my heart.
A commitment for life...
echoes in my mind.
A lifetime is forever!
Can this commitment be kept?
Tears begin to flow...
The words,
"I now pronounce you Man and Wife,"
arouse me from my thoughts.
I look over at my husband as he mouths,
"I love you," a lifetime seems short
as I kiss and hold him.
Too many do not even give their vows or commitments a second thought or a first for that matter and all too soon their lifetime commitment is over within months. Great write, great question, I think all couples who are about to embark upon their journey of marital bliss should read this to remind them to consider their vows and commitment. Can this commitment be kept? Good question. Considering the attack on the moral of the family these days, it is always a miracle to hear someone say, I have been faithful. Great poem for reflection. Victor
