The ocean reaches out to touch our inner soul in many ways...
The sun lifts to grace the horizon,
glints above a raging sea,
waves lap over and over...
resemble snowdrifts on a mountain side.
Sea gulls dip in and out of the vast,
like hands reaching to feed them.
Sharks teeth deep in the bottomless,
wash away to unknown beaches.
Dolphins in a far-off distance,
bounce up and down,
like children on a seesaw,
takes turn at showing off.
Man of War stings...
pain seen in swimmers faces,
lifeguards run to assist,
swells beat against the shoreline,
leave white foam smiles on the sand,
people wonder who sent them?
Wow I could almost see the ocean and
The waves and felt the ocean breeze
On my face and the Sea gulls
Such stunning Imagery and the flow is beautiful
I could picture a man feeding the sea gulls!!
Outstanding Write!

I love the ocean. I've spent many hours fascinated with crashing wave action and cavorting dolphins. You captured the essence so well, Barbara. I especially liked the reference to dolphins bouncing up and down "like children on a seesaw," taking turns showing off.
A really nice poem with lots of distinct imagery. Well done!

The ocean is an intriguing place, and you've captured some of its mysteries in your poem, "The Ocean". Several great visual images such as: "swells beat against the shoreline,
leaves white foam smiles on the sand".
In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
