This is based on a friend's complex problem...

The day's intense...all emotions are dead,
Emily's spirit is spent...she's seeing red.
Jason left in a flash, no smile on his face,
footprints march into a faster pace.

There were no farewells, no remarks spoken,
he took back the ring...given as a token.
Emily ran down the road beaconing Jason back,
nothing's left behind...only dusty tracks.

Her lover is gone...what did she do wrong?
No time for a word...in a moment he's gone.
Thoughts jumble in her disruptive mind,
leaving her stunned and unable to wind.

Her heart is breaking...what shall she do?
She's never been offended by a dude so rude.
Keep walking my friend...the pain won't remain,
there's others out there who won't do the same.

Keep walking my friend...don't feel no pain,
in a month's time...you'll not remember his name.

"Complex" expresses the deep emotion of loss. Relationships begin because they are important to two people. When they end, there is always pain no matter the depth or seriousness of that relationship. The memory grows dimmer in time, but like all experiences in life, it adds to the character of who we are as we pick up the pieces and move on.

Too often what we believe to be special, integral parts of our life, are nothing more than weeds with pretty blossoms that need to be pulled to clear the ground for something else more efficacious.

This poem is exceptional dear Barbara and you have captured that well. Your deep rivers are evident. Blessings!

I agree with Karen...I think I would rather be alone with myself, someone I can trust, than to live with someone who didn't truly care or someone I couldn't trust! Enjoyed!

My opinion, Barbara? He's not worth her tears. You said it best: "Keep walking my friend...don't feel no pain,
in a month's time...you'll not remember his name." Yep! There is someone better waiting in the wings! :)

Much love
Lena

Keep walking my friend...the pain won't remain,

Probably the best advice she could get, Barbara. Sometimes, we just have to keep walking.
