These memories are as strong as the day I wrote this poem. 11 September 2001
America, the beautiful, stands proud and tall, a solid foundation, never to crumble and fall. The World Trade Center's skyline, Tuesday Morn, sun shining over its magnificent forms, like a new day waiting, for a new life to be born. Innocent people bustle in
busy New York Streets, unaware of the tragedy they're about to meet.
No one aware, the terrorist were embarking planes, to destroy America, try to bring "Her" down in shame. The first plane hits like a tornado sucks in its prey, destroying its victims and things in it way. The second one, slams through another tower, as a mighty propelled missile with explosive power.
Not knowing, a third attack is making its round, into our Capitol to attack the Pentagon, to burn it down. To weaken our Military Defense like a mighty storm wipes a city from the earth with only sounds. But, America, America, She won't fall down. She's up; She's fighting, and She's tall and proud.
The news announces, "A fourth plane is down," somewhere in a Pennsylvania town. A caller, from the plane, gets out the news; passengers will rush the terrorist to deter their moves, it's headed in a path of destruction; maybe, The White House, Camp David, The Capitol or the Pentagon, no one knows its true target at this time.
We heard our "President," was a target too, fear not, "Dear President," we stand with "You". Terrorist may storm our mighty shores, to destroy strong cities built by American's hands and beat the paths of this great land. They'll not defeat us, no matter how hard they try, American's are willing to fight and to die.
Terrorist brought ruins, loss of lives to our Homeland, we'll work to rebuild, hand in hand, we're a nation who will not be brought down by a bunch of terrorist entering our towns. We mourn the loss of "American Lives," pray God to grant us strength in our strife.
America, America, won't be brought down; She's Up; She's fighting, She's strong and She's proud.
I too am proud to be an American...I still believe that prayer changes things, in God's time. I went to visit a little church with some friends this weekend and I was moved deeply when I looked at their altar, inscribed on the front of the beautiful wood the following words were engraved..."Prayer Changes Things" serves as a great reminder for all who kneel in prayer! Enjoyed this much, a wonderful write!
Blessings,
Joyce B.
I too am Proud to be an American!
However it is evident, no matter how much I have tried to ignore...the role she plays in prophecy...we would have to have our head in the sand...not to see it!

No other powers will bring America down to is knees!

AMEN! I am too dear Barbara! Hopefully America will stay that way too. She has many problems, and many challenges, and all her people need to find the Creator who made them, and remember His words.
Powerful write and memories!

Barbara, you've captured the event, feelings, and the horror of one of the most tragic occurences in American history. I'm proud to be an American, too, and as sad as 911 was for all of us, it is a reminder that freedom still avails despite the evil factions that try to destroy it.
So eloquently stated. I too am a proud American and proud New Yorker. I am cocerned as to what is going on these days, but I am only one person. Many friends and family members were injured that day, some permanently, one a firefighter was killed in the North Tower. What was left of him was found six months later.........
Fantastic piece of work, Barbara. You state exactly the way I feel about our country; no outside power will ever bring her to her knees. The sad part is, I feel her crumbling from within; and that is the worst kind of defeat that there is. Keep up the great work and may God bless you.
Proud of you Barbara - Violence is the lowest attempt for anything - Other musicians & myself have created so many pieces in honor of 9/11-Trying to heal ---I had a cousin who was the manager of "Windows on the world" {top floor restaurant-years earlier} & I played piano in that room & he was married up there - So it was very close to home for me as well - - -God bless us all - - -{Ted}
