Deception Seals The Sting

This isn't a poem about my life but one of a dear friend I know.

Dad told me...people could be illusory...

Acceptance and healing wafts in the wind,
the hurt stings like an abscess outside my lip.
Life appears useless and zapped of oomph,
nothing lightens the darkness lurking inside.
It was suppose to be a genuine love,
blazing commitments and sizzling joie de vivre,
sealed in a stamp of honesty and everlasting.
I lie here looking out at the ocean...

try to make sense of my situation,
desire to understand the solitude of my soul.
Obscurity and shock plays havoc in my mind.
Gusts clutch my body in hugs of comfort
as raingdrops try to swab my injured heart.
Dad told me...people could be illusory:
kill time and seek out Jason's psyche,
spoken words can sometimes be deceitful,

pilfering your heart,
leaving you nursing an offended spirit.
I wait for waves to lap my body,
caress and ease my being,
sluice away the impurities of his lies,
restore me to wholeness,
free the strings bounding my heart.
Dad told me...people could be deceiving.

Dad was a wise man dear Barbara.

Not only can people be, (illusory), but too many are too much of the time. There are some things that happen to us that affect us for the rest of our life. But also, conversely, the wounds, and the emptiness we deal with as a result of anothers indiscretion, oftentimes fuel our artistry and insights into human nature.

Your last stanza is superbly image laden; the emotions of which most can relate too, or have personally experienced. A very honest heart write. Well done!

Blessings ...
Richard

Well Barbara, it's always seemed illusory to me, but waves lapping still sounds like a good idea. :)

So try. But we must forgive which does not meant acceptance of what is bad. There are so few kind hearted persons in this world.

Painful, but also inspiring. For you have had the strength and the
courage and the faith to get up, brush yourself off, and move on.
GOOD FOR YOU !! 'Pea' <3
