What a great drive. Ah the things children do. Can leave them on their own can you. Bet you ended up with some scratches. But I'm sure you're fine. Great poem. Victor
I too was that daring in my faraway yesterdays
When I was a tot
we used to make out own crude wagons
because we could'nt afford those beautiful "red wagons",
we used discarted baby carrage's
wheels and axles and Fruit crates
and what ever nails we find along the way
to an accident waiting to happen

all I see is the ground and things.
Wonderfully penned, Barbara, and you've again managed to bring back some memories for me of both my little red wagon, and my delightful little wooden snow sled.
The strong beats and rhythms are great to keep the pace and sustained imagery/metaphor going, Barbara. This write is fascinating for adults and children alike and leaves as many questions as it answers. Fantasy and realism all mixed together, this gripping tale(tail!) is one that reaches out and grabs the reader, taking him/her along for the ride. Slightly spooky, too.
