A Heartache Curse

A life devoid of his strengths and energies...

A mist from a storm swathes my body,
soothing a mind twisting and suffering...insults sting,
my spirit threatens a subsistence for existence.
Tears bare, hurt...too intense and painful,
we've been together twenty-two years today.

A blizzard snatches him out of my arms,
no rationale, no premonition, no admonition,
wind speed catches him up in a torrent of funnels,
steals him out of my being into a lover's arms.

I stand on the outer bank afraid of my insecurities,
awaiting to daub a raw and damaged heart,
demand to catch a glimpse of my tomorrows,
without love, friendship, faithfulness and a family.

A life devoid of his strengths and energies...
I lack a need to step out on the rim of life,
he brought the most excellent out in me...I feel drained,
needing his intensity to encourage my weaknesses.

Did my weaknesses cause our demise,
or was it a new face, a different scent, a sexual diversity?
Offense and deceit raided my self-esteem and fortitude,
leaves me vulnerable and unable to cope.

I foresee currents flowing for a cleansing of my spirit,
nourishing my soul with a renewal and assurance
to soar above these misfortunes and heartaches,
lifting me higher than a soaring eagle,
landing me atop a nest of securities to find a new love.

A wonderful soulful write that expresses one's insecurities when suddenly they find there is no "other" in their lives. Ive been there and know the feeling well.

"I foresee currents flowing for a cleansing of my spirit,
nourishing my soul with a renewal and assurance
to soar above these misfortunes and heartaches,"

This is definitely the right direction, but it does take time to ease the vividness of memories. Well done, my friend.

What an emotional upheaval, but the last verse gives me hope for whomever this has happened to. You are so good at writing prose like this Barbara, very powerful and beautifully done!

Certainly not a good day when after so many years you find yourself alone. A good time to have faith and trust in God because he works in very mysterious ways. Sometimes things happen for the better. A very touching write...

Be safe,
Karen

To have a love abandon you after so many years and without an explanation has to be like cutting the heart out of a person. This will take time to heal but make yourself available and do not give into self pity as it is an easy thing to do.

Much soul-searching and honesty in this dear Barbara. I have always tried to see things exactly as they were, no pretending, and then, at all costs, hope and pray for the best, and the wisdom to navigate the mental and emotional labyrinths that challenges and problems bring with them. Your writes are always 'open heart' and I respect that!
Blessings ...
Richard
