Mother, the gleam in your eyes are gone,
they stare like you live in a space in time.
Are you dreaming of chasing butterflies,
wiping runny noses, lecturing children,
cuddling a sick child, washing clothes,
dancing with Dad?

Mother, I'm here now...can you see me?
I'm grown and wise because of your tender care...
look at me Mother...I need you to listen,
to touch my face, to wipe my eyes, to shelter my shoulders.
I miss you Mother...your smile, your kindheartedness...I miss you.

Why did the seasons steal you away from me?
You were my underpinning, the one who really loved me,
a listener, a shoulder to cry on, a giggle...giving me security.
Why, oh why, did seasons snatch you up into its gusts,
carrying you into a world of fantasies and fallacies?

I try to find you amongst the shadowy clouds,
traveling too fast for me to get hold of...vanishing in my hands.
Those memories of former times keep me searching,
desiring to capture a snapshot of those sparkling green eyes,
laughing in a hoarseness, dimple like smiles, your smell,
your touch...Mother, Mother, I'm here...can you see me?

The seasons...(cruel), I cannot forgive them,
they gauger every single moment of your life,
laugh as you become slow-moving, steal your beauty,
take away your dreams, memories...
sealing them in a chest, only you can hold.
